Harness the free energy from the Sun.

Solar PV

Solar panels capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work - they can still generate electricity on a cloudy day.

The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run the electricity within your home. There are many benefits to installing solar,

  • Cut your electricity bills. Sunlight is free, so once you have paid for the initial installation, your electricity costs will be reduced.

  • Sell electricity back to the grid.

  • Cut your carbon footprint.

  • Interest free loans funded by the Scottish government.

Ross eco technologies have over 10 years experience in designing and installing solar pv installations, from small domestic to larger commercial installations.

Solar system maintenance

Have you had a solar system installed on your property in the past and are unsure if your system is underperforming? A Solar system life expectancy can easily last up to 20 years but only with regular and thorough health checks. often we find that customers can be totally unaware that their system is not working to its full potential and are losing out on their solar gain.

How can YOU check for any issues ?

A quick and easy way for you to check if you have an issue with your solar generation is to look at your solar generation meter (normally installed next to your main fuse board). If you are generating electricity there will be a blinking red light (the quicker the blink the more power you are generating). If the light is solid red this means you are not generating any electricity and you may have an issue with your solar string or inverter. You will also see a solid red light when it's dark out, so only check for this during the day.

Here at Ross Eco Technologies we can offer a solar health check where we will test the whole system thoroughly for any potential issues.

What does a Solar health check include?

  • We will firstly do a power generation string test on the solar panels to check they are performing correctly.

  • confirm all inverter and isolator connections are secure, safe and show no sign of wear or damage.

  • check the inverter is showing accurate readings and screen is working correctly.

Further checks include

  • Checking roof for newly added shading items that can knock off solar gain from panels.

  • Ensure all panel wiring is safe and connected securely.

  • Inspect for any defects to panels, railings and fixings.

  • Check for any animal nesting under panel install.

  • Clean any debris that may be on or under the panels.

We will supply a full report of our tests and include any photographs where appropriate.

Price is based on size of system, accessibility to the roof and the distance from Biggar, where we are based.
